Symptom: KapaMPI displays run-time error or does not perform any action at all when user selects any option that saves to a PDF file.
Notes: KapaMPI installation also attempts to install "Amyuni Document Converter" as a system printer, named "Kapa PDF Printer" and uses it when saving to PDF files. This printer driver is incompatible with recent Windows versions and can either completely fail to install, or seems to be installed but does not work properly.
Status: Known issue.
Affected products: KapaMPI all versions, running on Windows versions 7 and later
Resolution: Update KapaMPI to the most recent version and use a different PDF printer to save PDF files.
Any PDF printer can be used, but not all can be integrated with KapaMPI functions, i.e. you must use "Print" and select your PDF printer in order to save as a PDF, you cannot use the "Save as PDF" or "Send as PDF attachment" options from KapaMPI.
In order to use those functions, the PDF printer you install must provide at least basic ActiveX support for printing control. You need to consult with your PDF printer vendor to find out.
An example of a PDF Printer that supports ActiveX programmability is Bullzip PDF Printer which can be downloaded from the following link:
http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/download.php
You need to download and install Bullzip PDF Printer on all KapaMPI clients that require saving to PDF.
To integrate Bullzip PDF Printer with KapaMPI, follow the below instrunctions:
-Download the attached files “HRptEng.ini” and “BullzipPDFInitScript.txt”
-With Windows Explorer, open "\\<KAPASERVERNAME>\KapaMPIVF$\3.1.19\KapaMPI", replacing <KAPASERVERNAME> with the computer name of your Kapa Server pc. If you are actually logged in to the Kapa Server pc, you can use "\\127.0.0.1\KapaMPIVF$\3.1.19\KapaMPI"
-Copy the two downloaded files there, overwriting any files with the same name previously there.
-Afterwards, perform client re-installation on all Kapa client pcs that require saving to PDF.
Please note that Bullzip is not in any way affiliated with Helintec, and our technical support does not cover PDF printing itself.
