To perform an installation of KAPA server, please follow the below instructions:
STEP 1: Download the Microsoft SQL Express 2008 R2 - SP2 server (32 or 64 Bit version according to the OS of the Server KAPA is going to be installed on)

STEP 2: SQL Installation and Configuration.
a) On the initial below window, click on "New installation or add features to an existing installation "
Be careful not to select the second option ( Upgrade from SQL Server 2000, SQL Server
2005 or SQL Server 2008) as you might accidentally upgrade an existing SQL server and
cause other already installed applications not to work.
b) Make sure that the " New installation or add shared features" option is selected and click "Next"
c) Select the " I accept the license terms" checkbox and click Next
d) Do not make any changes to the Features options and just click Next
e) In the Instance Configuration dialog , select "Named Instance" and type "Kapa32Server".
Then click Next.
f ) In the Server Configuration Dialog, change the account name for SQL Server Database Engine , from NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK service to NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and click Next.
g ) In the Database Engine Configuration dialog, select " Mixed Mode ( SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication) " option and enter password " kapa32" .
Click Next to continue.
h ) In the Error reporting dialog, just click Next.
i ) Finally, you will get a completion confirmation window for the SQL Server setup, just click Close to exit the setup and finish.
STEP 3: Next, please follow the instructions below to configure the SQL EXPRESS 2008 R2 Server in order to prepare it for KAPA installation.
a) Go to Start -> Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager and run it
b) Once open , click on SQL Server Services and confirm that the states of "SQL Server (KAPA32SERVER) " and "SQL Server Browser" is " Running "
c) Go to SQL Server Network Configuration -> Protocols for KAPA32SERVER. You will find : "Named Pipes" and "TCP/IP" protocols disabled. You need to enable them.
- Right click on them and select " Enable". You should see their Status turn to "Enabled"
d) Now you need to configure the TCP\IP protocol. Double Click on it to open it's configuration window and go to IP Addresses tab.
- On "IP1" and "IPAll" options, you must make sure that the "TCP Dynamic Ports" filed is blank ( delete the zero) and on their TCP Port field , type " 1433" . Then click " Apply"
- Click OK on the prompt window that will appear
e) Go to SQL Server Services and on the right side of the screen, right click on "SQL Server (KAPA32SERVER) " and "SQL Server Browser" and click on restart, one at a time.
- When both Services have been restarted, you can close the SQL Server Configuration Manager as the configuration for KAPA setup is complete.
STEP 4: Installing the KAPA Server.
Download the KAPA vessel setup from HELINTEC's FTP Server (http://fs.helintec.com or ftp://fs.helintec.com) or request it from us in CD form.
This setup contains a Database and the KAPA Documents.
- Open the KAPA Setup Folder and run the KapaMPISetup.exe
- Kapa Setup will begin. Click on Next
- Next you will be requested to enter a Registration Key to continue. To acquire it please contact HELINTEC S.A.
You will be asked for the Product ID and you will receive the Registration Key which you will enter in the corresponding field. Then click Next to continue.
A prompt window message will inform you that KAPA has been successfully registered.
- On the next screen, select " Use an existing SQL Server 2000 SP3 or greater instance" and from the SQL Server Name Drop down, select the ( "ComputerName"\KAPA32SERVER ) which you installed previously.
On the Sa password field, type " kapa32 "and click Next.
- Now you must select the schedule for KAPA Database will be backed up by selecting Daily or Weekly Backup as well as the Time.
Also, you can select if you wish to create a new backup file each time or if you wish to overwrite the previous one.
- Next is the screen that shows the path locations for the various Kapa folders. You can alter them if you need.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.KAPA32SERVER\MSSQL\DATA
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.KAPA32SERVER\MSSQL\Backup
- The next screen is the KAPA Client Selection. Here you will select which computers on your workgroup or domain will have permission to install the KAPA client software.
Click and select the check boxes of the workstations you wish.
Do not select the Standalone Installation check box as this is intended for Server installations without Network Connections
- The validation screen is next which shows the selected setup settings. Click on "Start" and the setup will begin.
- When the setup is complete, you will see the following confirmation screen.
- Click Exit to close the setup and finish.
Step 5: Running KAPA on new Server
Go ahead and launch KAPA application Client from its shortcut on the desktop on the new KAPA Server. It should run normally and all documents - attachments should be in place.
Step 6: Installation on the Clients / Client Synchronization
Go to any client pc and go to Start/Run and type in the dialog box which opens :
\\server name\kvf\kapampi.lnk (where server name = the name of your KAPA server).
Press Enter and the client setup will begin automatically without anything else required by the user.
When it is completed, the KAPAMPI login screen will open automatically.
Go ahead and Log in to KAPA normally.
